State Road Improvement Project

The Government of Kerala had announced in the State Budget for the year 2011-12, a road network development program – State Road Improvement Project (SRIP) – with the objective to develop an excellent State of the art road network by improving the selected State Highways and Major District Roads. The Road Infrastructure company Kerala Ltd. was incorporated as a Special Purpose Vehicle on
19 th March 2012 with a paid up capital of ` 5,00,000/- contributed by Government of Kerala (51%) and Kerala Road Fund Board (49%) to implement the project.

In the Budget Speech for 2017-18, it has been declared that an amount of Rs.21.74 crore is provided for land acquisition of the following road under State Road Improvement Project (SRIP)

Karamana – Vellarada Road (35.5 Km) in Thiruvananthapuram District

As per GO (Rt) No.355/2016/PWD  Dated:15.02.2016 Government accorded Administrative Sanction for Land Acquisition for Rs.21.74 Cr. 6(1) Notification was published as per Notification No.LA2.545/2016 dated: 16.03.2017. Boundary stones have been laid for the entire stretch from Km 0 to 35.50 Km for acquiring the land.  Contingency charges remitted to Special Tahasildar LA, PMG Thiruvananthapuram of Rs.1.07 Cr. on 30.01.2019.

           Joint inspection with Revenue officials for the entire 35.5 Kms is completed. Revised DPR after avoiding insignificant bus bays is submitted to the Principal Secretary, Public Works Department for Administrative Sanction on 04.12.2019. The Expert Committee report for the first 5.5 km from Karamana to Kundamankadavu recommending to take up 1.1356 Hectare land for road widening is published. From 5.5 Km to 20 Km, Social Impact Assessement Study is in progress, after publication of 4(1) notification.
